Craft it Forward – a 30 Day Challenge

This post may contain affiliate links. That does not mean you pay any more for items linked here,
it simply means I receive a small amount of money if you make a purchase. Thank you for your support!

In times of crisis, people have two choices. They can sink lower and lower until they are completely overwhelmed by the idea of carrying on or they can rise to the occasion, embrace what they can do, and find a way to be a helper. This crisis that we’re currently living in gives us a unique opportunity. Many of us are stuck at home. We have some extra time on our hands and we’re reeling from all that is going on.

Today is the day to stop reeling and find a way to help.

Craft it Forward - 30 Days of Crafts that Help Others

You may not be able to help with this particular crisis, but let me tell you, there are countless other crises going on in the world today and you CAN help with something. This month, I’m going to help you find where you can help.

For the remainder of this quarantine time, I will be posting new projects as often as possible until there are 30 total. (The original plan was daily, but based on the fact that there are still kids living here that need fed, entertained, and educated, that’s not going to happen.)

Each project posted will have information about how that project helps you pay it forward (craft it forward) in some way. My challenge to you is to pick a project–any project–and dive in head first!

Before we get started, I want to share a little story.

A few years ago, I lost a baby to an ectopic pregnancy. It was a horrible time in my life and I was heartbroken. I walked around in a fog for weeks. Then, I saw an article about people in the UK crocheting these little octopuses for premature babies in the NICU. The babies would hold onto the tentacles instead of pulling on their tubes and wires and the nurses reported that they were really helpful.

This pulled at my heartstrings and I started looking for a way to help. There was no Facebook group for the United States yet, so I started one. It grew like wildfire. I did almost no crocheting, but TONS of organizing over the following months. That group now has over 24,000 members and a group of administrators who run it well.

My point in sharing this story is this. Crafting for a cause is healing. We need healing right now more than ever. So take one of these projects that I’m sharing this month and let it help heal you. Craft it forward, friends!
