I know, I know…it’s October…why am I writing about Easter crafts for kids??  Well, it just so happens that when you’re doing crafts for 31 days, you spend a lot of time on Pinterest.  And when you’re on Pinterest, you get ideas.  And when you get those ideas, you want to do them…right now!  And besides, we shouldn’t just celebrate the resurrection of Jesus once a year, right?  Right!  So over the next few days, we’ll be doing Easter crafts!  Today, we made these beautiful Resurrection Crosses.  And I love them!  I had to help a little more with this project than I usually like to, but the girls didn’t seem to mind and really enjoyed this project.

Easter Crafts for Kids: Resurrection Cross

Preparation time: 5 minutes
Project time: ~20 minutes
Project cost: $ Medium
Parental involvement: Medium
Inspiration: Colorful Light Ray Cross from Housing a Forest

Supplies:

  • Printer paper with this Cross printed on it
  • Scissors
  • Scrap paper (Newspaper works great for this)
  • Oil pastels
  • Masking tape or painter’s tape
  • Card stock

Preparation instructions:

  • Print off the cross and cut it out.

Step by step instructions:

  • Lay the cut out cross on the scrap paper.
  • Have your child color the edges of the cross with the oil pastels.  Have your child color nice and thick.  Pressing harder with the oil pastels will create better colors.

  • When all edges are colored, tape the cross onto card stock.
  • Have your child rub the pastels from the inside of the cross to the outside.  My girls needed quite a bit of help with this step because their fingers were so little.

  • Remove the cross carefully so you don’t tear the paper.
