Glow Sticks are usually though of as enjoyable during the summer. You see kids at nighttime pool parties, the amusement park, or on the Fourth of July wearing them and having a great time. So when I received these glow sticks to review, I had to find some indoor glow stick activities. That’s when we came up with the Glow Stick Ring toss!
Glow Stick Ring Toss
To set up our ring toss, we placed a mason jar at one end of the living room and put four glow sticks inside. Then, we put together three sticks using the connectors to form rings.
The girls thought this was great! They took their rings made of glow sticks and tried to throw them over the mason jar. The first two tries flopped, but then they moved a little closer and were able to get them over the jar.
Even Brian and I got involved!
What We Thought of the Glow Sticks
These glow sticks available on Amazon claim to be the longest lasting and super bright! I honestly can’t speak to them being longer lasting than other glow sticks, but as for their brightness, they really were very bright! This made them really fun to play with, twirl, and wear as glowing jewelry. (And write letters in the dark with! See the H in blue?)
Getting a pack of 100 is a great deal! It’s fun to have lots of them for activities like the ring toss. It was also nice because although a couple of them didn’t work (one didn’t glow at all and one broke), there were still plenty more in the box!
Safety During Glow Sticks Activities
Glow sticks are a great, fun, safe toys as long as proper precautions are taken. As I was searching Pinterest for ideas, lots of them suggested breaking the glow sticks open. NOT a good idea! The insides contain glass (that’s the cracking you hear when you bend the stick) and that could obviously be harmful to your child. We did have one glow stick break on us just by bending it too hard and we just went and put it in the trash and washed our hands. No harm was done, but glow sticks are parental supervision only toys!
