My 10 All Time Favorite Movies (And an organization tip!)

Last week, I shared with you 10 things you (probably) didn’t know about me. It’s fun learning new things about people, so I thought I’d continue in that vein and share my 10 all time favorite movies. I’m not a HUGE movie watcher. Like I mentioned last week, scary movies (or even sort of scary) movies are out. R-rated and even most PG-13 rated movies are also out. So that limits my selection considerably. But I still do enjoy movies and have a few favorites that I thought I could share today. So here you go…my 10 all time favorite movies, in no particular order.  (Keep reading for the DVD organization tip!)

1: Ever After: Yes, I know…sappy, sappy, sappy. I just can’t help it! The Cinderella story with a true feel gets me every time! Not to mention the subtle humor here and there. It’s such a great movie! My favorite line is when Leonardo Da Vinci says, “I shall go down in history as the man who opened a door” Ha!

2: The Kid: This is another feel-good/funny movie. The humor is just up my alley and I could (and have) watch it over and over.

3: You’ve Got Mail: Do you notice a theme? I like romantic movies and comedy. Lol! I like to laugh and cry in the same movie. I’m a bit of a sap.

4: One Night With A King: I’m going to throw you for a loop and mix it up a bit. I love, love, love this movie! It’s not 100% accurate and takes some (okay, a lot) artistic license, but I love how it tells the story of Queen Esther. I love the way it shows the passion she had for her people and the fear that she had to face as she went before her husband, the king, and stood up to Haman. The story itself is a story of strength, trust, and doing the right thing in the face of impending death and the movie portrays all of that beautifully.

5-7: Fireproof/Facing the Giants/Courageous: All three of these movies (produced by Sherwood Pictures) are movies that teach valuable lessons and are based on strong Christian values. They are really well done (not too cheese or bad acting like other Christian movies I’ve seen) and I enjoy watching them again and again.

8: Time Changer: This movie is a really good movie, also from a Christian perspective. It tells the story of a man who thinks he can teach morals without teaching Christ. The man is transported through time where he finds that without Christ, morals fall apart. The movie is very eye opening and does an excellent job of reminding us that Jesus should be the center of our lives.

9: Harry Potter: I mentioned last week that I love the Harry Potter books–I feel the same way about the movies. The story is fun and enjoyable, deep and intense. I always enjoy watching them. There are parts of the movies I squeeze my eyes shut through, but since I knew they were coming, having read the books, they weren’t so bad.

10: Lilo and Stitch: I’m hiding my face right now…can you tell? I know it’s a kids movie, but it makes the cut! I love the story, the music, and the sweet moral that family sticks together through thick and thin. It still makes me laugh and cry after watching it 5723 times.

There you have them! My top 10! I know that as soon as I post this, I’m going to think of a movie that I like better than something on this list, but I’ve been thinking about it for over a week, so I figure it’s time to hit “Publish”.

DVD Organization Tip

We used to have a shelf FULL of DVD’s. It was filled to overflowing and seemed to always be a mess. One day, at a garage sale, I found this giant CD holder. I bought it, took it home, organized my DVD’s inside, threw away all my DVD cases, and haven’t looked back. Everything is so much better organized and I can zip the case so my baby can’t pull all the DVD’s out. It’s SUCH a good solution. If you’re afraid of throwing away the cases (I know some people have an aversion to that kind of thing), you can still do this and store the cases in a box in the attic. I just figure, if we ever want to get rid of a DVD, we’ll grab a cheap CD case and give it away or sell it in that.

Organize your DVD's using a CD case. Save space and make your shelves look neat!

So now it’s your turn! What’s your favorite movie? Do you have a special way to organize your DVD’s?
