6 Simple Paper Crafts for Kids

Sometimes it’s difficult to understand written instructions for art projects you see pictures of, especially paper crafts.  I’ve been looking at a lot of online crafts and realized several of them, you just need to see someone do it to understand.  So, I decided to find a few of the BEST tutorials for paper crafts for kids from YouTube, and share them with you today!  Remember, these are going to be a little more difficult than the other crafts that are part of this series.  Most of the craft projects we’ve done, the parent involvement has been fairly low.  If you decide to do these crafts with your preschoolers, you’ll be doing most of the work!  That said, many of them are things you can do first and then let your child decorate later.  If you’re working with mid to upper elementary aged kids,  these will be perfect!

Six Paper Crafts for Kids that You Can Do Together

This snowflake is really beautiful and not as difficult as it looks!  There is some simple cutting that your child could do if you draw lines for them first.  Then, let them decorate the snowflake with glitter!

These paper dolls are fun!  If you are working with preschoolers or kindergarteners, you’ll have to do most of the cutting, but then you could give them the strand of dolls to decorate with dresses and faces.

I’m a sucker for butterflies and these super-simple origami butterflies are so sweet!  Your child can help you with the folding and then decorate them when you’re done.

Who wouldn’t want a paper frog that actually jumps!  This is probably the most difficult project on this list, but I had to include it because it looks like so much fun!

These paper lanterns (or globes or pumpkins!) are really simple to make and have a lot of “WOW factor”!  Your child can cut the strips, you can punch the holes, then they can put on the brads and make it into a ball.  These would be so fun for a birthday party!

H loves making paper chains!  In this video, she uses a stapler to attach the chains for the body, but H uses tape and it works great!  A glue stick would work too.  This project would require some adult help, but is very kid friendly!  (I just have to say though…why does that caterpillar have a tail?)

So even though these paper crafts are more geared towards older kids or adults, that’s no reason to pass them by!  Crafting alongside your child will build their confidence and be great quality time spent.

If you decide to do any of these projects, be sure to come back and tell me about it!  Take pictures and share them on my Facebook sharing post!  I’d love to see what you and your little ones are making together!
