My Favorite Projects from Christine’s Crafts
I love a good crafting site as much as the next crafter and Christine’s Crafts were definitely fun to browse through! There were some very creative ideas that I had not thought of before. Here are a few of my favorites!
I’ve seen yarn bowls in specialty yarn stores and available online for several years and have wanted to give them a try. They’re normally out of my price range though, so I’ve not bought one before. I love this idea of making your own! I NEVER would have thought it could be so simple! I think Christine’s DIY yarn bowl turned out beautiful!
Drawstring bags are something I’ve made in the past, but these are really cute! And the tutorial on Christine’s Crafts is really simple to follow. Give it a try to hold kids’ toys or craft supplies or as gift bags!
How CUTE is this DIY Pin Cushion? I love how you can use whatever fabric you want and how it sharpens your pins for you!
Crafter Interview
I asked Christine to share about her crafts, her family, her life…with all of you! Join me as I learn more about this talented crafter!
Tell me about you and your family.
I live in the north of England in the UK with my husband and two grown up sons. Until one of them leaves home I do not have a crafting room so generally it takes place at the dining table. I am often working at the dining table with the ironing board set up for pressing in the living room. Most of my supplies are upstairs so I can do a lot of dashing about during my crafting sessions. It must be good for my health!
How long have you been doing these particular crafts?
I have always done crafts but they have really come to the forefront in the last few years. As a child my mum taught me to sew and craft and has remained an inspiration and useful consultant throughout my adult life. If I cannot work something out she will probably have an idea.
Why do you do your craft?
When my children were young I often crafted with them or found myself making costumes and toys. About 3 years ago I quit my job due to health problems and I have focused on crafting and blogging. I find it so relaxing and I think this is because it so absorbing. Mindfulness to perfection!
What are your “can’t-live-without” craft essentials?
I have so many bits and pieces for crafting but I would hate to be without my sewing machine, good quality scissors and my hot melt glue gun!
Where do you look for inspiration?
I get inspiration from everywhere I go but on line I love Pinterest. It is so visual and so easy to feel inspired when everything is presented to you in picture form.
How do you organize your time so you have time to craft?
One way I squeeze a lot of crafting into my life is by having some crafts that I can do while I am watching television in an evening. This can be embroidery, hand sewing or crocheting. I am often too tired to do much by that time so it is a great way of relaxing with family while still creating.
Any final thoughts?
Creativity is alive in all of us. I used to think I was not creative because I cannot draw but creativity means so much more than that. Creativity is simply thinking about things and most importantly having a go! You learn so much and you will be surprised what you can achieve. No-one should fear it, relax and enjoy your creativity.
