Still thinking about it? Wonder if it’s really possible to potty train a child in one weekend? Let me tell you about how H potty trained. We had wondered for a while if she was ready and finally decided to give it a try. We sat her on the potty and occasionally had successes and praised them excitedly, but I really didn’t think she knew what she was doing. She hadn’t learned to respond to her body yet.
After a couple weeks of on and off, a friend explained this quick potty training method to me. I decided to give it a try. The only thing I couldn’t do was get rid of all the diapers in the house as I still had one in diapers.
I set aside a week and took the plunge. The first day, we had accident after accident. I wasn’t into the idea of cleaning up potty all night, so I did put her in pull ups at night. By the end of day two, things were much improved. Amazingly in fact! She had gone from having accidents all day to actually recognizing the need to potty! By the end of day three, she was making it to the bathroom in time most of the time. Now I won’t say it was 100% yet, but it was an amazing improvement! The rest of potty training went smoothly after those first three days.
Poo training was a little different. H had a fear of going in the toilet. I tried every trick in the book. Even offering to buy her a pony didn’t work! After a couple weeks of cleaning poo out of panties and pants, I decided to let her go in a diaper. She’d ask for a diaper, put it on, and go in the bathroom…standing up. She just couldn’t get her little body to figure out how to do it sitting down. I finally decided to just have her try each time first and then if let her go in the diaper. Eventually, she figured it out.
I tell you all this because I want to say, even if it doesn’t go perfectly and you’re not completely done in a weekend, this book is still such a valuable resource! Just think…a week from now, you could be done with diapers! Get your copy today while it’s still on sale!

I assume there has to be some point of readiness before it will work??
Yes, you’ll want to look for signs of readiness. (Although some say the sooner you start, the better, I disagree.) Things to look for include your child telling you when they have a wet diaper, them being interested in you going potty, them having fewer wet diapers, their bowel movements becoming predictable, etc. This is a pretty good list. 🙂 http://www.whattoexpect.com/toddler/potty-training/signs-of-readiness.aspx
