Slow Down Little One

Slow down little one, you’re growing too fast. I’m missing it. Missing smiles. Missing words. Missing laughter. Missing tears.

Missing you.

You’re bigger. Not so new anymore. You smile. You squirm. You play on your own and I’m relieved. You sleep on your own and I rejoice. But then I realize…I miss you. Slow down little one.

You’re growing so fast. You play. You imagine. You sing and laugh and run. You are brave and I’m not. Slow down little one.

Slow down little one. Don’t grow up so fast.

You’re learning. You read. You count. You’re smart and soon you won’t need me so much, but I’ll still need you. Slow down little one.

Slow down. Slow down.

Slow down mama. You clean. You cook. You teach. But you’re moving too fast. You’re missing it. Slow down. Cuddle. Hug. Kiss. Love, dream, embrace. Relax. Laugh. Take every moment captive and do your very best to slow down and not miss a thing.

Matthew 6:34 Take therefore no thought for the morrow; for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself.

Beautiful. My nephew is 7 months old and I only get to see him about once a month. It’s so precious to see his development, but I wish he would slow down, too!

Beautiful! I try to remind myself to love something about each age and stage. Try to cherish this time when they’re little because it will pass by so quickly.
