Tried it Tuesday: Baby Leggings

Fall is on the way and it’s time for sweaters, tights and baby leggings!  These cute alternatives to tights (because who needs an extra layer to pull up over a diaper??) are a big fashion trend right now, but unfortunately, they usually come with quite a price tag!  I’ve seen baby leggings that cost up to $15.  For socks without feet??  No thanks!  So I got to thinking…could I just make some myself?  Browsing Pinterest (follow my Baby Things board here!), I found that I should be able to do just that!  So now it’s time for another…Tried it Tuesday!!

DIY Baby Leggings

I found this tutorial and fell in love.  Aren’t they darling??  I pulled out a pair of long socks that I never wear anymore and took a look.  There was just one problem.  The feet were worn extremely thin.  So…I decided to change things up a little.  Instead of sewing a cuff on the bottom, I just turned it under and zig-zag stitched it.  As you can see in the pictures, it caused them to flair a little, but they’re still super, SUPER cute!!!

One of the things I love about these is that they fit for a long time.  You’re seeing them on my 3 year old in these pictures, but I made them for my oldest when she was about a year old.

VERDICT: Pinterest WIN!  Baby Leggings were a HUGE success!

So if you’re looking for a fun project to do this year, just pull out some of your old long-socks from high school and stitch up a pair of leggings for your little one’s legs this winter.
