Materials:
- Red Heart Boutique Unforgettable Yarn
- Size 3.0/C Hook
- I HIGHLY recommend a hook with a cushioned handle like this Clover hook. It can prevent a multitude of problems like sore wrists and arthritis flair ups. If you order an off-brand, make sure the hook handle is a rubber material, not just hard plastic.
Instructions:
- Chain 62. Turn.
- DC 2 in second stitch from hook and in next 22 stitches.
- Dc, hdc in next stitch.
- Sc, slst in next stitch.
- Slst in next 12 stitches.
- Slst, sc in next stitch.
- Hdc, dc in next stitch.
- Dc 2 in next 22 stitches.
- In last stitch, Dc 1, chain 2, then slst in same stitch.
- Fasten off and weave in ends.
See? I told you it was super easy!! These are fun to make and work up so quickly! You could add more chains to the beginning row to make them longer if you have a girl with longer hair also, but these are perfect for my littles.
I hope you enjoy this Twirly Hair Tie Crochet Pattern!

Can you explain the Dd in the last instruction before weaving in ends? Thanks!
It was a type-o. Should be Dc. I changed it. Thanks!
Thank YOU!!
What us Slst? I just learned to crochet a month ago and love it
Slst is “slip stitch”. Hooray for learning to crochet! If you have any other questions, just ask!
A lady use to make these for me when I was a child and I have always wondered how. Thank you for posting the directions, now I can make them for other little girls. I throughly enjoyed adding them to my hair growing up and matching hair twirlys with my clothes. They add a bit of whimsy and fun.
You’re welcome! I remember wearing them as a little girl as well and loving them!
How do you put them in hair? I love the pattern, I just got confused trying to put it in my daughters hair.
Put her hair in a ponytail or pigtails and then tie the middle part around the ponytail holder. Hope that helps!
