What I’ve been doing lately…

If you hadn’t noticed, I haven’t been around much lately.  Things around my house have gotten crazy busy!  I just thought I’d take a moment to share what we’ve been up to.  ðŸ™‚

1. Starting Homeschool

H is in kindergarten this year, so we’ve been doing some serious homeschooling.  Well…kind of serious anyway.  We’re doing reading, math, studying Antarctica for science, learning some cooking skills, and are getting ready to do some fun painting.  The last three things on the list were selected by H.  She’s pretty excited to be learning so many new things!

M is in preschool and along with doing what H does (the fun things!), she is also doing an online reading readiness program and she loves doing pages out of her pre-k workbook.

We are also doing a homeschool co-op one day a week where I teach music.

2. Paparazzi

My new business of selling $5 jewelry has taken off incredibly well!  I was shocked, but thrilled at how successful my parties have been and how quickly things have grown.  I’m booked out for the next two months with parties and I don’t see things slowing down between now and Christmas either.  I am actually doing a fundraiser party on Thursday evening that I’d like to invite all of you to.  The jewelry will be selling for $6 instead of $5 and $1 from each sale will go to a fund to send supplies to the Syrian refugees.  I know this is a controversial topic, but a friend of mine has a personal contact over there and she’s arranging to send supplies directly to them.  These are things going mostly to children…innocent people caught up in the mess of the Middle East.  So if you can participate, we’d love to have you.  If you can’t, then please consider praying with us that the supplies we send will make it into the hands of those in need.  Here is a link to the party if you’d like to join.

Paparazzi parties are so much fun!

3. Beauty Redeemed

Painting dolls got put on the back burner for a while, but I’ve gotten back into it here lately.  I’m trying to get a big group ready to post in the next couple weeks.  It’s time consuming, and something I really can’t do with the children awake, but I love it.  It’s a nice outlet for my creative side!  If you’d like to see more of our progress or watch for updates, you can visit our Facebook page.

4. Purging

If you haven’t heard of the book, The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up, take a moment now to look it up.  A good friend referred me to it and it’s been truly life-changing.  Although some of the concepts are a little strange (I don’t thank my clothes for being a part of my life), it’s changed the way I look at my stuff.  As a result, I’ve been getting rid of stuff…lots of it!  In August, we had a HUGE garage sale and since then, I’ve gathered even MORE boxes of stuff to sell, trash, or give away!  It’s pretty amazing!  We’re hoping to move in a year or so and the more stuff I get rid of, the less daunting the task of moving seems.

So there you have it!  Four BIG time-taking things.  But I do hope to get back into blogging more often again soon.  I’m considering doing the 31 Day challenge again in October, but I honestly don’t know if I can take it on.  Either way, I do hope to get back on here more often.  Thank you all for still being here!
