Last week, I posted about how the BEST preschool curriculum is PLAY.
Well, we spend lots of time in play at our house. And honestly, anytime your child is doing something other than sitting in front of the television, they are learning. But because my girls have both loved the structured learning time, we do do more structured play during “preschool time”.
Here’s what our days look like right now. H is doing kindergarten work, so I get her settled in either working on her math or reading (the two things she does on her own on the computer) and then M and I do preschool. This preschool time is really just directed play, but the learning advantages are amazing!
Today, I’m sharing a list of our most frequently used items in our preschool. I do keep these things put away in a cabinet because it seems that the more familiar a child is with an item (toy or otherwise), the less exciting it is for them. I want preschool to be fun for my children, so I keep these things feeling new.
Supplies for Preschool Play
- Crayons
- Paper
- Markers
- Counting Bears
- Stuffed Animals
- Books
- Letter Monster (watch for more on this one next week!)
- Puzzles
- Uno Game
- Matching Game
- Unifix Cubes
- Blocks
- Tangrams
- Paints
- Beads
- Sequence Cards
- And MORE!
If you don’t have all these things in your preschool stash, don’t fret! You can still have an amazing preschool! Most of these things are (or could be substituted with) common household items though, so having a great preschool where your children learn through play is absolutely still an option!
