Day 31: Candy Cane Ornaments (We made it!!!)

Yesterday we made fairly complicated Christmas ornaments and today, we’re making SUPER easy ones!  These fun candy cane ornaments are not only easy to make, they’re also great patterning practice!

How to make Candy Cane Ornaments

Preparation time: None
Project time: ~20 minutes
Project cost: $ Medium
Parental involvement: Low
Inspiration: Beaded Candy Cane from A Girl and a Glue Gun

Supplies:

• Red and white (and green if you want!) pony beads
• White pipe cleaners

Preparation instructions:

• None!

Step by step instructions:

• Give your child the pipe cleaner and the beads.  Help them secure the first bead on the bottom with a small loop or knot.  Suggest that they make a pattern with the beads.  You can even show them the pictures as an example.  Then, let them go!  If you’re really wanting to work on patterning, you can do it, but I just let my girls go.  M obviously isn’t to that point yet, but H definitely was!  When they’re finished, secure the other end.
• Bend the pipe cleaner filled with beads into the shape of a candy cane.  From here, you can either give it as a gift, use it to decorate a package, or hang it on the tree!
