How to Make a Handprint Christmas Tree Ornament

What would a week of Christmas crafts be without making an ornament or two?  Today’s craft is one that will hang on your tree for years reminding you of your child’s small hands and fingers.

How to make a Handprint Christmas Tree Ornament

Preparation time: None
Project time: ~20 minutes

Supplies:

• 5×5 wood squares
• Green, yellow, blue, brown, and red paint
• Glue
• Gold glitter
• Hot glue
• Ribbon

Preparation instructions:

• None!

Step by step instructions:

• Paint your child’s hand green. Press their hand in the middle of the square.  Let that handprint dry.
• Put the yellow, blue, and red paint on a piece of scrap paper and let your child paint fingerprints on the handprint Christmas tree to make ornaments.
• Paint a trunk on the tree with the brown paint.  Let dry.
• Draw the little garland shwoops and a star on top of the handprint Christmas tree with glue and let your child sprinkle the whole thing with glitter.  Let dry, then shake off excess glitter.
• Use hot glue to glue ribbon to the back of the wood square.
• Hang and enjoy!
