I’m excited to share a new pattern for you today! I have wanted to make a mason jar cover since I saw a picture of them on Pinterest. I think they will make ordinary mason jars perfect to use for gifts, canisters on the counter, vases, candle holders, and any other container you need! I’m thinking of putting my coffee grounds in one, for starters!

This pattern is really simple, but gives a beautiful look when finished. It is made for a quart sized jar.

Mason Jar Cover Crochet Pattern
Supplies:
Lightweight yarn (I used size 3)
Size F hook
Scissors
Abbreviations:
Ch=chain
Dc=double crochet
Sc=single crochet
Sl st=slip stitch
Instructions
To begin, create a magic ring. Continue working in rounds.
R1: Ch 2, dc 8 inside the magic ring, Join in top of ch 2
R2: Ch 2, 2 dc in each dc from the previous round (16 dc total), join in top of ch 2
R3: Ch 2, *2 dc in first dc from hook, 1 dc in next dc, repeat from * around (24 dc total), join in top of ch 2
R4: Ch 2, *2 dc in first dc from hook, 1 dc in next 2 dc, repeat from * around (32 dc total), join in top of ch 2
R5: Ch 2, *2 dc in first dc from hook, 1 dc in next 3 dc, repeat from * around (40 dc total), join in top of ch 2
R6: Ch 2, dc around, join in top of ch 2
R7: Ch 1, sc around, join in top of ch 1
R8: Ch 2, 4 dc in first dc from hook, skip 3, *4 dc in next dc, skip 3, repeat from * around (10 “shells”), join in top of ch 2
R9: Ch 1, sc in space right before join, *sc in middle 2 stitches of shell from previous row, 2 sc in space between shells, repeat from * 9 times, finish with 2 sc in top 2 stitches of fan and 1 sc in join space, join in top of ch 2
Row 10-21, repeat rows 6-9 3 times
R22-25: Ch 1, SC in back loops around join in top of ch 1
R26: Ch 1, *1 sc, ch 3, 4 sc, repeat from * around (do not join – work rest of work in an ongoing round) (finish with 8 ch 3 loops)
R27: *7 dc in first ch 3 loop from hook, sl st in 3rd sc from loop, repeat from * around (do not join)
R28: *In shell from previous round, dc in first 2 dc, 2 dc in next dc, 3 dc in next dc, 2 dc in next dc, dc in next 2 dc, sl st in sl st from previous round, repeat from * around
Finish off with a sl st and weave in ends.
